Setup
- 1 Tank

Boss Mechanics
Manifest Scorn: Sticks to a player rendering them unable to do anything (think Yrlwalach).
Embodiment of Scorn: Add mechanic. Uses Manifest Scorn. Kill to remove. (currently can be cast on mailboxes/feasts, LOL). Make yourself a quick "target Embodiment of Scorn" macro and pew pew until it goes away.
Ember of Azaphrentus: Add mechanic. 1.8M HP. Radiates damage (Radiance of Azaphrentus). When killed stuns Azaphrentus for 4.5 seconds (Soul Bound). Has a small bubble surrounding it in which you are debilitated. If you're not killing these for the stun you can try and stack these in the corners of the room to reduce the AOE damage. Just have everyone stack on the edge of the AoE pulses (If you're not dodging flame waves) and the next ember will drop there.
Dark Star: Damage gain mechanic. Purple AOE with outer white ring. The outer ring deals high damage if stood in. Spawns every 45 seconds. The purple inner circle increases damage dealt by 30% but reduces movement speed by 40%. Unable to use blink abilities.
Burning Tears: Tank debuff. Causes increased damage per stack.
Rage of Azaphrentus: Moving firewall mechanic. I'll draw a picture. Dodge.
Cleanse mechanic. 4 times on random players. Causes damage. Cleanse!
Note: The Lava on the edges of the room is lethal.
Strategy
Lock out note: You will need to be on the platform at the bottom of the stairs or you will be locked out when the boss is engaged.
Positioning and timing is key (see picture provided). Decide whether your raid damage is high enough to ignore the Dark Star gain mechanic. Choose a strategy below.
Without Dark Star (preferred method)
If your damage is high enough to beat the enrage timer without the need of the Dark Star gain, you can ignore the suggested strategy. Stack up and pull the boss (for instance to the purple circle in the reference picture). You will get one Dark Star at the beginning and none for the rest of the fight. Still avoid the outer bright edge. Cleave Embers or assign a special player to time them.
With Dark Star
Stand as depicted. If you decided to have melee players make absolutely sure Azaphrentus is not standing in a Dark Star!
Always stand in the middle of a Dark Star. Be sure to stand in a Dark Star to meet the DPS check.
Use the stun from Soul Bound (killing an Ember of Azaphrentus) to interrupt Rage of Azaphrentus so you don't have to dodge the majority of fire walls. If you time it right you can stun Azaphrentus and he'll take non-crit damage from the flame wave. This used to crit but has been patched.
If you simply choose to ignore the embers it will help to stack in a corner and move each time a new ember shows up (if possible) to minimize raid damage.
Having movement speed buffs helps (Bard) if you do have to dodge because you will be slowed by Dark Star. Cleanse everything!
If the boss is under 10% ignore the person Embodied and burn the boss.
Easy Mode: No flame waves (Dark Star started dropping directly under him on Easy Mode. 6/22/2016). All other mechanics remain. The best tactic is for everyone to stack on his butt, switch to a cleave spec, and DPS him down. No fuss, no muss. You'll still need to target the Embodiment of Scorn, but the stacking Ember's of Azaphrentus that you're killing with cleave DPS will keep him stunned for about 10-20% of the time. Enjoy that view.
